Mapping Nature workshop, and a Photo competition
Editorial
My friends,
GCC will be attending the Mapping Nature workshop next week (details below) and we will have some native plants suitable for suburban gardens to give away.
We’d love to see as many of you as possible at Phillips St Precinct Maxine Brusche meeting room on 18th February in Gladstone, starting at 6pm.
Use this form to register - QCC are organising attendees.
Also check out the 2025 Wayne Lawler Nature Conservation Photography Grant which is now open to budding nature photographers.
See you at the workshop next week!

Hi GCC Members,
My name is Emma Smith, I have recently started work as the Gladstone Regional Environment Advocate with Queensland Conservation Council. I have lived and worked in the Gladstone region for over 10 years and am passionate about our local environment and community.
Where and what are the top priorities for environmental protection and restoration in our region? How can we support a local renewable energy transition while protecting and enhancing our environmental and cultural values?
Throughout this year we will bring locals who are passionate about protecting our region’s environment through this energy transition to answer these questions and we’d love to have you on board!
Fill in this expression of interest form to indicate how you’d like to be part of the project:
Participating in our workshops: The first workshop will be co-designing how we do this together and will be held on the 18th February in Gladstone, starting at 6pm.
Contributing knowledge: if you have knowledge of ecological values or threats, the transition, or any other relevant area but can't make it to a workshop, we’d still love to hear from you!
Joining our research team: we would love your help compiling data on environmental impacts, ecological thresholds and connectivity.
Sharing our work: this project won't succeed without the right people in the room, so we would love your assistance reaching out to relevant stakeholders!
Please complete the expression of interest form and let us know how you can help.
This is an opportunity for creating our future together.
We can’t wait to get started!
