Methane Satellite now sending images

My friends,

I’ve been following the Methane Satellite project (Methane Sat) for many years now, as it was obvious to anyone who had measured anything in a gas field that companies were wildly underreporting emissions.

Under-reporting can be due to a lack of equipment and expertise, or it can be deliberate obfuscation of the industry’s greenhouse gas profile.

We start with the unsurprising revelation that real methane emissions are significantly higher than reported emissions. Nine times higher.

In older areas, this moves to ten times higher.

The problem isn’t restricted to North America either.

But now there’s nowhere to hide, anywhere in the world.

This satellite is able to produce images when the area is covered by clouds, so soon we will have real data about the significant emissions which aren’t being reported properly at the moment.

2025 is going to be an interesting year!
