Hi everyone,
our team at Agnes Water has been working super hard for you and we are pleased to announce that we are having another native plant sale on Sunday at the 1770 Markets at the SES grounds. If you’re a local, pop down and see us - or take a day trip from Gladstone to hang out with these legends!
As usual you can go to our website and browse at your leisure. Paying online means less work for our volunteers, and easier accounting for us. Pick your plants up at the markets and have a chat with our volunteers in person - we’re always happy to put a face to a name!
This time we have two new products to purchase apart from plants - our 2024 Bee- eater calendar is now available and they are selling fast, so be quick! If you bought one last year, these are the same images - we decided to extend our pilot project to a larger audience. Next year we are planning a shorebirds calendar.
The 2024 calendar is packed with local events for the Discovery Coast area, and we are trialling selling these at local businesses.
If you can’t get to the markets, we can post your calendars out to you.
We also have new lawn signs to help keep people and cars away from Bee-eater nesting and breeding grounds. These are double-sided (two different designs) and they are available for pickup in Agnes Water only at this stage. At $25 each they’re a quick and easy way to look after your native wildlife. Buy one for your neighbour as well or someone you know - we’re aiming to have these really visible at all the local breeding sites.
Funds from these plants, calendars and lawn signs go directly back into the Discovery Coast area, so you can be sure that your purchase is doing good where you live.
A Note from Anna:
I’m so grateful to the many volunteers who give so much of their time to these projects, especially to Jodie for the graphic design and coordination, Nic for her plant skills, and Stephen for the wonderful Bee-eater photographs that make these so pretty!
Thanks also to Peter, Michelle, Steve, the other Steve, (why do we have so many?) and all the other people who help behind the scenes, whether it’s lending tables, helping to set up and pack down, providing beds or potting up plants.
I am so proud of what we have achieved so far, and I love you all.
Anna
